Understanding and art of algorithmic expression

The Petlja Foundation was founded with the aim of improving algorithmic literacy in Serbia. We believe that understanding algorithms and the art of algorithmic expression is necessary for everyone, and it is also important that those who are talented in programming recognize and develop their talent. To acquire algorithmic literacy, some form of programming is necessary, just as one cannot acquire classical literacy without practicing written expression. Programming does not have to be complicated, reserved for experts, and dry and boring for others. Our desire is to bring programming closer to everyone: children and their parents, students and their teachers, curious users of technology and all people who wonder what they should learn next. We want to raise the level of awareness in society about the importance of algorithmic literacy, and to encourage different social subjects to be more active in the direction of developing and popularizing algorithmic literacy and specifically programming. This means that we help educational institutions to contribute more and better to the development of algorithmic literacy, to raise awareness among the wider population about the importance of algorithmic literacy, to encourage and help everyone who wants to learn programming, as well as to bring together individuals and companies who, with their resources and commitment, want to support the development of algorithmic literacy in Serbia.
