Serbian scientists have left their mark in many fields of science. At the Vibe Factory festival, on October 23, 2022, we want to celebrate one of our most famous roboticists, Miomir Vukobratović, a pioneer of Serbian and world robotics. During two days, together with members of his family and eminent experts in the field of robotics, mechatronics and automation, we will hold a kind of competition for children aged 6-19 from all parts of our country. We will recall his work and discover new interesting information that will help us advance in the field of robotics.
We have designed this kind of competition in accordance with different age groups of children who will compete in three categories: juniors from 6 to 10 years old, intermediates from 10-14 years old and seniors from 14-19 years old. Children who participate in the competition will have the opportunity to discover the principles of human and animal movement. They will then have the task of applying this knowledge to the mechanic design of the robot. The next goal is to program robots and solve real-world problems concerning robot movement in imperfect conditions.
We have tried to define the tasks and the problem in such a way that they can be solved using any robotic system that our schools have: be it M-bot, LEGO robots or Arduino.
Our desire is to challenge and interest generations of adults with a great influence of technology, generations that are better at navigating virtual worlds than in the real world that surrounds us, to try to be creators and not just passive consumers of virtual products. This is precisely why our challenges combine technology but also the real world and the tasks in it. Our guiding idea is to gather as many young people eager for knowledge as possible and provide them with the conditions in which they can demonstrate their excellence. Our goal is to design a competition that can be repeated year after year, and motivate them to participate again every year, improve and become more innovative.
